SNAP (Food Stamps)
Apply online at www.ACCESSNebraska.ne.gov or call 1-800-383-4275. Local DHHS Economic Assistance office at Saunders County Courthouse on 2nd Tuesday and 4th Thursday of the month. Phone: 402-443-4252.
Food Pantry
Operated by Ministerial Association. Food may be obtained 9 AM-5 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays by advance phone appointment with a minister. Call Bethlehem Lutheran at 443-3160, First Presbyterian at 443-4220, or St. Wenceslaus Catholic at 443-4234 (or another Wahoo church).
Women Infants and Children (WIC) Food and Nutrition Service
Held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church the 3rd Monday of each month. Food vouchers provided for pregnant women and children to age 5. Call 402-727-0608 for an appointment.
Mobile Food Pantry
Frozen meat, canned goods, bread, some USDA products and fresh vegetables and/or fruit. Sign income self-verification sheet, but no other documentation is required. Distribution held the 4th Monday of each month from Noon- 1 PM at the National Guard Armory in Wahoo.
Wahoo Area Weekend Backpack Program
Weekend food supplements are sent home each Friday in the child’s back pack. Sign up at your child’s school.
Food Bags
Nonperishable food items provided monthly through Community Action. Pick them up at Head Start. Contact Jean at 443-4250, extension 1007, if you’d like to receive a monthly food bag.
USDA Food Bank Distribution
Held on the first Friday, every other month (September, November, January, etc) at 10 AM at the Wahoo Senior Center. Drive up, nothing to sign, receive 2 bags of food per family.
