Job Overview

Saunders Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide patient care throughout the surgical and outpatient care process. This Full-Time and PRN position supports patients during pre-operative, intra-operative, recovery, and immediate post-operative phases while working closely with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Operating Room and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience is preferred, but Saunders Medical Center will provide education and cross-training as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care during pre-operative, intra-operative, recovery, and immediate post-operative phases.
• Assess patients and develop, implement, evaluate, and revise plans of care.
• Provide patient and family education based on individual needs.
• Communicate and document pertinent patient information for the healthcare team.
• Respond quickly and efficiently during emergencies.
• Maintain quality patient care according to professional nursing standards and SMC policies and procedures.
• Operate equipment used in Pre-op, Surgery, PACU, and Specialty Clinics with minimal assistance.
• Participate in quality, safety, infection control, education, and department activities.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Work collaboratively with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.

Qualificiations

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively and provide compassionate care to those we serve and work with.
• Ability to organize workload, prioritize patient needs, and make sound independent decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Operating Room and/or PACU experience preferred.
• ACLS and PALS certification required within the first year for applicable surgical positions.
• Specialty clinic-only positions require BLS certification.
• Saunders Medical Center provides education and cross-training as needed.
