Job Overview
Saunders Medical Center is seeking an RN to provide professional nursing care and help coordinate resident care in our Long-Term Care department. This role assesses resident needs, administers medications and treatments, monitors changes in condition, and helps ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and consistent care.
The Charge Nurse position also provides direction and supervision to medication aides and nurse aides, supports care planning and documentation, and helps maintain high standards of resident care across the shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess resident needs and provide timely, compassionate nursing care.
- Administer medications, treatments, oxygen therapy, and other care as ordered.
- Monitor residents for changes in condition, medication effects, and other health concerns.
- Maintain accurate and complete resident records and care documentation.
- Supervise, assign, orient, and provide direction to medication aides and nurse aides.
- Monitor medication administration and provide appropriate direction to medication aides.
- Provide resident and family education and support.
- Participate in care planning and ensure documentation reflects each resident's plan of care.
- Provide informative shift reports and promote effective communication among departments.
- Support quality improvement, safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
Qualificiations
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program, including an associate degree, diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to prioritize resident needs and make sound independent decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of Long-Term Care (LTC) nursing experience.
- Experience supervising or providing direction to nursing assistants or medication aides.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
