Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Job Overview

Perform laboratory testing and specimen collection across chemistry, hematology, blood banking, serology, microbiology, and urinalysis. This position plays an important role in providing accurate, timely laboratory results to support patient care in our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing and report accurate in-house results.
• Collect specimens including venipunctures, capillary sticks, and arterial punctures.
• Perform and document quality control testing and investigate results outside accepted ranges.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, including preventative and remedial maintenance records.
• Maintain accurate records of testing, patient results, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
• Follow laboratory policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate laboratory concerns or testing issues to the Technical Supervisor or Lab Manager.
• Assist with supervision of Laboratory Assistants and Phlebotomists.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and SMC policies.

Qualificiations

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree from a NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program or qualifying education and military laboratory training.
• Medical Laboratory Technician certification through ASCP or AMT.
• Ability to communicate effectively and provide compassionate care to those we serve and work with.
• Ability to work accurately, independently, and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.
