Housekeeping Technician

Job Overview

Saunders Medical Center is seeking a full-time Housekeeping Technician to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role performs cleaning throughout the facility, including patient care areas and the operating room, while following established healthcare cleaning, safety, and infection control procedures.

This is a hands-on, active position with opportunities to learn and cross-train in other areas of the organization. Healthcare housekeeping experience is preferred, but a strong work ethic, attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to serving others are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning duties throughout the facility in a professional, courteous, and safe manner.
• Clean operating room and patient care areas according to established procedures.
• Properly mix, use, and store cleaning chemicals.
• Safely operate, clean, and store cleaning equipment.
• Operate mechanized cleaning equipment as needed.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
• Report defective equipment and unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
• Assist with training and orientation of new employees.
• Cross-train and assist in other departments as directed.
• Follow infection control, safety, security, and confidentiality requirements.

Qualificiations

Required Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work respectfully with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
• Ability to work independently, follow established procedures, and use good judgment.
• Reliable attendance and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including frequent standing and walking and lifting up to 35 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare facility.
• Experience using commercial cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals.
• Willingness to cross-train and assist in other areas as needed.
