EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited associate degree of nursing, diploma, or Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing program.

One or more years of LTC experience preferred, but not required. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Current Nebraska RN.

 

SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating and implementing quality management activities and process for LTC.  Responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and assessing LTC infection control issues.  Responsible for assisting staff with the electronic medical record (EMR) operations at LTC.  Responsible for overseeing the restorative care program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.

  • Initiate, monitor and document effectiveness and follow through on all quality projects. 
  • Coordinate and lead the LTC quality management meetings.
  • Coordinate resident immunizations and annual flu vaccines.
  • Compile, monitor and document infection control reports.
  • Assist in supervision of supplies, storage, and sanitation of all work and storage areas.
  • Supervise all aspects of the restorative care program.
  • Teach current and new staff EMR documentation.  Be trained as an EMR “super-user”.
  • Assist the IT department in implementing EMR updates for LTC.  
  • Assist and take part in weekday/weekend call rotation as requested.
  • Assists the MDS Coordinator when needed to complete full MDSs, care plans, and care area assessments.
  • Complete Resident Discharge Summaries within 30 days of discharge.
  • Organize and file discharge summaries, as well as inactive charts.
  • Practice the proper fire, safety and disaster procedures as set forth by SMC.
  • Participate in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.
  • Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times and report violations to the Privacy Officer.
  • Understand and comply with the requirements of the Saunders Medical Center’s Compliance Program, including, but not limited to the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Policy, all Saunders Medical Center-wide policies for compliance, and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by Saunders Medical Center policy and as requested by the Supervisor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise staff in the restorative care program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • RN with a minimum of five years nursing experience. Long Term Care experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. 
  • Must have computer experience and skills with proficiencies in Word and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Certificates Licenses, Registrations
  • Current Nebraska RN license
  • Basic Life Support

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions and possess positive skills in communication.  Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, visitors, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate at the level necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written, diagram or schedule form.
